Special thanks to all who joined us for this event.  We had a great turn out and loads of fun.  I'd also like to thank you all for showing up promptly and being well prepared.  We received high praises from Shawn of Church Automotive Testing for being so.  Not all dyno days are as incident free as this, so be very prouds of yourselves for a collective job well done :)

Test Conditions

Dyna Pack Dynamometer
  • Direct rear-axle bolt-on measurement point.  (Wheel/tire diameter, mass and alignment influences a thing of the past)
  • Simulated road load insure proper ECU response under WOT condition.
  • Accurate within +/- 3%
  • In comparing to the more well known DynoJet dynamometer, the readings is approximately 10-15 hp higher.

SAE-correction for ambiant conditions

  • Ambiant temperature compensation
  • Relative Humidity compensation
  • Barrometric Pressure compensation

Open-hood setup

  • One Industrial fan blowing towards the front bumper of the car.
  • Another industrial fan aft the car (blowing outwards) to excavange exhaust fume and to assist a aft flowing draft.

Wide-band Air-Fuel Sampling

  • Exhaust gas is sampled from the tail-pipe location.
  • The AF readings for this particular setup is approx. 0.7-1.0 point higher than the pre-cat location.

3 runs per car
  • For added accuracy and consistency across the board, an OBD-II reader (via the diagnostic port) is employed to monitor vehicle vital status. 1st run is commenced when coolant temp reaches 185-deg. (F).  2nd run is peformed once coolant level settles back down to 190-deg.  A longer cool off perios is used .  This is a standard Church Automotive Testing test procedure.

Dyno Plots and Analysis


Peaks figures are easy to read and understand as they carry no ambiguitiesy. However, it only offers the tip of the ice-berg.  There are much more than meets the eyes.  Viewing and comparing  the complete dyno plot is prefered whenever possible.  In addition, wide-band air-fuel data should be accompanied to further provide clues to the state of tune for each car.
